Nebraska Cornhuskers Land Boston College Transfer DL Owen Stoudmire (2026)

In an exciting turn of events, Nebraska has secured a commitment from Owen Stoudmire, a defensive tackle from Boston College. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 292 pounds, Stoudmire brings with him one remaining year of eligibility, making his addition to the team particularly valuable.

This announcement marks Stoudmire as the fourth defensive lineman to join the Huskers recently. He will be joining fellow newcomers Andy Burburjia, a three-star player from Iowa Western Community College, Jahsear Whittington, a transfer from Pitt, and Anthony Jones, who comes from UCLA.

Stoudmire's journey began at Boston College in 2021, where he redshirted during his freshman year. Over the next two seasons, he participated in a total of 19 games, primarily in a backup role, amassing 17 tackles. His performance peaked in 2024 when he played in 13 games, earning two starts and achieving impressive career highs: 30 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.

The following season, in 2025, Stoudmire moved into a more stable starting position. However, his season was cut short after just three games due to an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the year, during which he managed to record five tackles.

Entering the transfer portal on January 14, Stoudmire wasted no time visiting Nebraska the very next day. His visit to Lincoln quickly led to his commitment, filling a crucial need for veteran leadership and depth on the defensive line.

As he joins the Huskers, Stoudmire is expected to enhance their run defense, specifically targeting the A and B gaps, while also contributing to the pass rush. He will be part of a group of returning interior linemen that includes Riley Van Poppel, Gabe Moore, David Hoffken, Sua Lefotu, Ashton Murphy, Dylan Parrot Tyson Terry, and Malcolm Simpson. Additionally, Burburjia and Whittington are anticipated to play significant roles in the defensive line rotation.

Nebraska is also actively pursuing Dylan Berymon, a four-star defensive lineman from Monroe, Louisiana, who officially visited last weekend. This 6-foot-1.5-inch, 330-pound senior is weighing options that include Kentucky and Oklahoma State, with a commitment expected in February.

It's worth noting that Nebraska has experienced some departures on the interior defensive line this offseason, with Elijah Jeudy exhausting his eligibility and Jaylen George transferring to Tulsa. Although Dylan Parrott briefly entered the transfer portal, he has since decided to remain with the team.

The arrival of Stoudmire could be a game changer for Nebraska's defense. What do you think about this latest addition? Do you believe he can live up to expectations and make a significant impact on the field?
