Openreach initially gave a nod to full-fibre broadband for my home, then promptly branded it as uneconomical.
My internet provider notified me by email that full-fibre service had become available at my property, confirmed by Openreach’s fibre checker tool.
After a month, Openreach said the connection was uneconomical because conduits under the road were blocked.
I can’t switch providers since they claim my property is connectable, so ISPs will only quote for full fibre.

Openreach unexpectedly found a workaround after I raised the issue.
It explained that commercial factors might delay an upgrade if the existing infrastructure is inadequate. It added that its online checker is only an “indicator” of a fibre connection, not a guarantee.
“We’ve taken a detailed look at what’s needed to connect JN’s home and found a way to get it done,” it stated.
“Sometimes we encounter unexpected problems when we reach the final connection stage. These cases are rare, and when they do occur, we work hard to fix them, but we’re sorry that we can’t always do that.”
